A landscape installation crew member with Seedlings Gardening, Nathaniel “Nate” Whittle previously served at Red Sky Golf Club. In his role there as turf care professional, Nathaniel Whittle was tasked with maintaining and managing the golf course all through the summer. Local golf courses maintain a healthy green lawn not by coincidence, but by meticulous turf management and nurturing. A perfectly green lawn leads to a better golf experience, which keeps customers coming back. The area’s aesthetics are determined not just by how well the grasses are mowed, but also by how well they are nurtured. Aerators are used on golf courses to produce tiny holes in the fairways so that air, nutrients, and water can reach the grassroots. This encourages the grass to develop deeper roots and creates an opportunity for it to break through to the soil. When the temperature warms up, shallow roots are more prone to fall dormant, causing the grass to turn brown. The grass’s deep roots allow it to stay robust, lush, and green. To maintain enough water coverage, golf course superintendents employ a variety of methods. Sprinkler heads and nozzles are chosen to maximize water levels in various sections of the course; sprinkler heads are positioned such that streams overlap. To prevent sun-induced evaporation and moisture loss, watering cycles are scheduled for morning or evening. via WordPress https://ift.tt/3nBxgA4
